Summary
A
Laboratory Assistant will execute all aspects of daily business operations in
Sample Preparation and assist with non-technical activities in the DNA testing
laboratory. An ideal candidate will work effectively with all team members to
ensure that our customers receive on-time and accurate delivery of test results
and services in alignment with our quality system requirements.
Responsibilities
- Understanding
of testing requirements and concepts
- Prioritize
and prepare all customer samples for analytical testing according to
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Identify
and assist in resolving anomalous events
Requirements
- 1-2 years
of administrative experience specializing in data entry
- High
School diploma

Work Environment
The
work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an
employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This
job operates in a professional office and lab environment. While performing the
duties of this job, the employee occasionally is occasionally exposed to
hazardous material, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic
chemicals.
Work
is performed primarily indoors in an office and/or laboratory setting. The
noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
The
employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including
lab coat and gloves. The employee will operate equipment properly as described
in the owner’s manual and according to SOP specifications.
Work
Environment
Most
positions with FCID operate in an office environment. This role routinely uses
standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical
Demands
This
is a sedentary role; however, some standing, bending, and lifting is required.
This position is subject to lifting files and computer-related equipment (up to
25 lbs.), opening filing cabinets and bending or standing as necessary.

Type and Expected Working Hours
Full-time
positions require a minimum of 40 hours per week. Associates are expected to be
available during “core” hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CDT. Some flexibility
in hours is allowed and must be approved by your direct supervisor
